Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul clarified today that the process of submitting an impeachment request to His Majesty the King regarding Clinical Professor Dr. Saran Boonbaichaiyapruk, Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), is pending the Senate's decision. Anutin emphasized that the Prime Minister is bound by law and cannot make a unilateral decision.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin discussed the legal requirement to await the Senate's final decision before proceeding with the removal request. The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of adhering strictly to the laws and the Constitution throughout this process.

Anutin also addressed a statement made by the NBTC Chairman earlier today, in which the chairman refused to accept the selection committee's decision. Anutin noted the importance of all parties fulfilling their roles and responsibilities. He mentioned that, following the selection committee's decision, he consulted with Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan, who outlined the legal steps required, including waiting for the Senate's official decision and resolution.

Anutin reiterated that once the Senate concludes its deliberations and forwards the matter to him, he will promptly sign the request for submission to His Majesty the King for royal assent. He stressed that the Prime Minister must operate within the legal framework and cannot exercise personal discretion in this matter.
