Anutin Confident in Addressing No-Confidence Debate Allegations

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed his readiness to address questions during the upcoming no-confidence debate, showing no concern over potential allegations of collusion with senators. He reiterated that the government is not involved in any such activities and emphasized that the foundational pillars of the nation must remain untouchable.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin Charnvirakul, who serves as both Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, responded to issues raised by Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, the House Leader of the Opposition. The allegations of collusion within the Senate are expected to be a focal point in the no-confidence debate against the government. Anutin clarified that the government has no ties to the Senate and that any alleged collusion pertains only to the senators' origins. He underscored that the government and Senate operate as distinct institutions, with the Senate being part of the legislative branch. There is no interference between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, which he described as the country's three pillars that must not be overstepped.

Anutin further described the "collusion in the Senate" as a baseless accusation intended to undermine the legislative process. He stated that, had there been any collusion, it would be a serious offense. He reiterated that the government rose to power through legitimate elections and had never been involved in any such schemes. Ministers were appointed through royal decree, took their oaths, and presented their policies to Parliament before assuming their roles.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that he would address questions within his knowledge and responsibility during the debate. For topics outside his purview, he indicated that he may not have specific answers. Nonetheless, he assured that there is no cause for concern regarding the alleged Senate collusion, as it falls outside the government's jurisdiction. Additionally, Anutin noted that questions related to artificial intelligence would be handled by Chaiyanok Chidchob, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society. Matters involving the Emergency Decree on borrowing, the Budget Act, the "Thailand Helps Thailand Plus" project, GDP, and the economy would be addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister or other relevant ministers. When it comes to overall government administration, Anutin expressed his willingness to provide clarity to the public.
