Anutin Confirms Advancement of TH-AI Passport Project, Stressing Technological Growth for Thailand

Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has reiterated the commitment to advance the TH-AI Passport project, underscoring the necessity for Thailand to progress alongside the global community. Anutin addressed criticisms of the project during a session at Government House, emphasizing that while the absence of artificial intelligence (AI) would not spell doom, it could hinder Thailand's ability to compete internationally.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin highlighted Thailand's existing strength in technological stability, particularly in communication technology. He noted that the country does not rely on foreign technology but instead adapts platforms and knowledge for its development. Anutin stressed the importance of disseminating access to advanced technology among all citizens to ensure competitiveness on the global stage.

Addressing concerns about the Terms of Reference (TOR) involving individuals from the Chidchob family, Anutin clarified that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) and the Minister of DE were overseeing the project. He assured that the project has been transparently explained and understood. The primary concern is the adherence to regulations and laws during the process. Anutin stated that if everything was conducted as planned, it would reflect that those involved fulfilled their duties in line with government policies.

Anutin firmly stated that his government does not entertain ulterior motives, focusing solely on benefiting the people. He asserted that any government under his leadership would not tolerate corrupt practices, as they do not contribute to improving lives or increasing wealth. The Prime Minister emphasized that there is no need to fear or show leniency towards corrupt activities, especially under his administration.
