Anutin Denies Closed-Door Meeting with Thammanat Amid Thanadon’s Appointment Speculations

Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, has addressed rumors circulating about a supposed rift and meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Captain Thammanat Prompao, concerning the appointment of Thanadol Suwannarit. Anutin confirmed that recent photos of him having lunch with Thammanat did not entail any private discussions about Thanadol’s role as a political official at the Office of the Prime Minister.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin clarified, “It was just a general discussion. There was no mention of any appointments.” He further distanced the government from Thanadol’s involvement in the Rancho Charnvee land investigation, emphasizing the separation of work and personal matters within the government framework. Anutin stressed that appointments must be formally approved by the respective organization heads.

When asked about Colonel Thammanat’s role in screening individuals, Anutin highlighted the collaborative nature of coalition parties, mentioning, “We are a coalition party. The Kla Tham Party’s voice is also a coalition party’s voice.” Addressing the perception of Colonel Thammanat as a “lightning rod for the government,” Anutin humorously remarked, “Every party has a lightning rod.”

Furthermore, Anutin discussed the ongoing issue of the War Veterans Organization’s resolution regarding government lottery quotas. Although he has not yet received a formal report, he urged relevant agencies to accelerate the resolution process. Emphasizing his approach to governance, Anutin stated, “There’s no need for any frameworks. My work style is: Order today, it must be completed yesterday! Why ask for frameworks? Everyone needs to know how to work with me.”
