Anutin Denies Political Motives Behind Ministry of Interior Official Transfers

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvorakul, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has denied claims that the recent transfer of 45 high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Interior is linked to political retaliation between the “Blue-Red” factions.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister addressed concerns following the Cabinet’s decision to reassign these civil servants, dismissing suggestions that the move was a form of political vendetta. He emphasized that the proposal originated from the Permanent Secretary and assured that all actions complied with legal requirements.

When questioned about allegations of a “red-shirt purge” within the Ministry, Anutin acknowledged the observation with a simple, “Oh, yes.” He further clarified that the transfer was a matter of fairness, insisting that the decision was made based on the Permanent Secretary’s recommendations, which he had to evaluate according to the proposed order.

Anutin also mentioned his limited role, stating that he could only appoint one Permanent Secretary. When asked if similar proposals occurred under the Pheu Thai Party government, he admitted uncertainty, suggesting that inquiries should be directed to the Pheu Thai Party for clarification.
