Anutin Highlights Parliamentary Review on Cancelling MOU 43-44

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has addressed inquiries from Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat, the former leader of the Move Forward Party, regarding the government’s approach to revoking Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) 43-44. Anutin stated that the House committee is actively examining the potential cancellation of these MOUs, following Pita’s question about why parliamentary mechanisms could not be utilized. He emphasized the importance of waiting for the committee’s conclusion before making any decisions.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin clarified that the issue is being reviewed by committees from both houses of parliament, including the Senate and the House of Representatives. He remarked that the process must be conducted in stages and that any Cabinet resolution would need to be considered carefully.

When pressed on whether the committee’s findings could negate the need for a referendum, Anutin reiterated the necessity of awaiting the study’s results. He indicated that only after the study is completed could a comprehensive evaluation be made regarding the future steps.
