Anutin Leads Cabinet in Policy Statement Addressing Urgent National Issues

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, led the Cabinet in delivering a 30-minute government policy statement in Parliament, reaffirming his commitment to addressing immediate national challenges and laying the foundation for Thailand’s future. He promoted initiatives such as the “Half-Half” program and emphasized the legal closure of casinos, adhering to principles of honesty and national interest.

According to Thai News Agency, the special joint session of Parliament was chaired by Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly, allowing the Cabinet to deliver its policy statement in line with Article 162 of the Constitution. Anutin highlighted the three key principles of national administration: protecting national institutions, upholding the democratic regime with the King as Head of State, and enforcing the rule of law.

Anutin acknowledged the complex challenges facing Thailand, including economic, social, political, and international uncertainties affecting competitiveness. With limited time, no budget, and a minority government, he stressed the urgency of addressing economic, security, social, and environmental threats while developing competitiveness and fostering transparency and stability. The government aims to support a referendum, constitutional amendments, and public participation, in accordance with the Constitutional Court’s ruling.

The Prime Minister outlined key policies to restore confidence and happiness among Thai citizens. These include reducing daily expenses, supporting small traders, resolving debt issues, and creating a safe environment for tourists. Anutin also emphasized resolving the Thai-Cambodian dispute peacefully and upholding sovereignty through diplomatic negotiations. A referendum will be held for public input on the Thai-Cambodian MOU.

On the social front, Anutin is committed to eliminating illegal gambling and corruption, working with anti-corruption bodies to enhance confidence. Environmental policies focus on disaster warning systems, relief for victims, and sustainable resource management. Public administration reforms, digital government development, and legal reforms will facilitate business and ensure access to education and health services.

Anutin is dedicated to promoting six key state policies, including equal access to education and health care, economic restructuring, smart agriculture, and infrastructure development. The government aims to maximize national benefit through disciplined fiscal management and prudent spending for the fiscal year 2026.

During the policy statement, Anutin read from a 50-page book printed with the Thai flag. The session began with the Prime Minister greeting MPs and Senators and taking a group photo before delivering his address.
