Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has declared an uncompromising stance against corruption within local government recruitment exams. He emphasized the government's commitment to utilizing all legal mechanisms to tackle the issue while assuring the public that no lobbying or compromise will be tolerated. In response to the scandal, Anutin has ordered the immediate dismissal of implicated individuals within the Ministry of Interior and acknowledged the involvement of external agents and brokers.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed the ongoing investigation into the corruption allegations, affirming that four main agencies, including the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), are independently investigating the matter. The NACC chairman is personally leading a sub-committee to ensure transparency and accountability in the proceedings.
Further actions have been taken by the Ministry of Interior, which has dismissed those suspected of involvement and formed an investigation committee to conduct a thorough examination of the case. In parallel, the Prime Minister's Office has established a separate committee to investigate the factual and legal aspects of the alleged corruption in the 2025 competitive examination for civil servant recruitment. This committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan, includes key figures such as the Minister of Justice and the National Police Chief, ensuring a comprehensive investigation that extends beyond the Ministry of Interior.
In a recent update, Anutin reported receiving information from Mr. Pakorn about the National Police Chief's ongoing investigation into the perpetrators. Anutin reiterated the importance of maintaining the integrity of the process, stating that no authority can interfere with or override the NACC or the committee led by Mr. Pakorn, ensuring that all actions align with legal protocols.
