Anutin Rejects Anwar’s Ceasefire Deadline for Thailand-Cambodia Conflict

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul declared that it is not yet time for ceasefire negotiations, after Anwar Ibrahim posted a message setting a deadline for Thailand and Cambodia to begin the ceasefire process at 10 PM tonight. At Wat Phrom Phitak Wanaram in Roi Et province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview regarding Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s post stating that Thailand and Cambodia would begin a ceasefire process at 10:00 PM tonight. He said he was unaware of this and suspected it was a misunderstanding. He added that due to the large volume of communication, it would be best to listen to the military’s statements at two different times, and that there have been no ceasefire negotiations yet, as the time for that has not arrived.

According to Thai News Agency, when asked further about the BM-21 rocket that landed in Phum Srol village, Sisaket province, the Prime Minister turned and responded, “That’s exactly what happened. How can we stop the firing then?”
