Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has stated his unawareness regarding reports suggesting that the Asavahem family has left the Bhumjaithai Party to join the Pheu Thai Party. The leader of the Bhumjaithai Party appeared surprised and questioned the news when addressed by media personnel, showing no prior knowledge of the family’s political shift.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin was questioned multiple times by the media about the Asavahem family’s departure from his party. He refrained from providing a direct answer, highlighting his lack of awareness on the matter. The situation raises questions about internal communications within the Bhumjaithai Party.
Anutin also addressed a separate issue concerning allegations of corruption in the government lottery quota for people with disabilities, as revealed by Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a Bangkok MP from the Prachachon Party. He acknowledged receiving a report on the matter and has requested further information from Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
When pressed by reporters on whether an investigation had been ordered into the lottery quota fraud scheme, Anutin emphasized that any actions breaking the law would not go unpunished. The statement suggests a commitment to addressing corruption, though specific actions remain undisclosed.
