Aquatics Association Confident in Timely Completion of Swimming Pool for SEA Games

Bangkok: The Secretary-General of the Aquatics Association of Thailand remains confident that the swimming pool will be completed in time for the upcoming SEA Games. The 33rd SEA Games, scheduled to be hosted by Thailand from December 9-20, faces several unresolved issues, including the finalization of competition venues for some sports and the completion of stadium renovations.

According to Thai News Agency, “Coach Tuek” Thanawit Thosakul, the Secretary-General of the Aquatics Association of Thailand, recently led the media to inspect the renovation progress of the swimming pool at the Sports Authority of Thailand, Huamark. Thanawit assured that the renovation is on schedule and expressed confidence that the pool will be ready for the SEA Games. The remaining tasks include installing technological equipment and preparing the pool surface, which will feature new rubber technology instead of traditional tiles. The pool is set to be filled with water on November 1st, and it will take an additional two weeks to adjust water conditions for athlete practice.

Furthermore, the warm-up pool is more than 90 percent complete. Once all the equipment is installed, it will become Thailand’s most modern pool. It includes new technology that allows adjustments from 50 meters to 25 meters, has 10 lanes, and can accommodate 3,000 spectators.

The contingency plan, should the pool not be completed in time, involves relocating the swimming competition to ABAC University, Bangna, and the synchronized swimming competition to Thammasat University, Rangsit.
