Argentina beat Colombia to win 16th Copa America title

USA, Lautaro Martinez scored a stoppage-time winner as Argentina edged past Colombia 1-0 to claim their 16th Copa America title. In the 7th minute, Colombia had a chance to score first when John Cordoba shot but his shot missed the frame. In the 20th minute, Argentina captain Lionel Messi shot in the penalty area but it was blocked by Colombian defenders before the ball went into the hands of Colombian goalkeeper Camilo Vargas. In the 36th minute, Messi dragged the ball to the end line before being tackled by Colombian defender Santiago Arias, causing Messi to be injured but still playing on. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw. In the second half, 58 Argentina had another chance to take the lead when Angel Di Maria's shot was saved by Camilo Vargas. In the 65th minute, Messi tripped and fell, causing him to be injured and unable to continue playing. He had to be substituted and Nicolas Gonzalez came on to replace him, causing Messi to shed tears. After 90 minutes, no goals were scored, tied 0-0, so extra time had to be extended for another 30 minutes. In the 94th minute, Rodrigo de Paul passed the ball to Nicolas Gonzalez, whose shot was saved by Camilo Vargas. In the 112nd minute, Argentina scored the winning goal from Lautaro Martinez's shot, helping Argentina edge out Colombia 1-0 to successfully defend their title and also win their 16th Copa America title.
