Bangkok: The Chief of Staff of the Army and Secretary of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has mandated all provinces to unite their efforts in inspecting for fuel hoarding as part of a broader strategy to prevent opportunistic price increases, enhance energy security, and alleviate public hardship.
According to Thai News Agency, General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, who holds the dual role of Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army and Secretary-General of ISOC, has instructed ISOC provincial offices across the country to collaborate with relevant agencies to form inspection teams. These teams are tasked with monitoring the sale and stockpiling of fuel to prevent actions that could impact energy security and cause distress to the public.
The Provincial ISOC units are directed to coordinate with government bodies, the private sector, and law enforcement agencies within their regions. This includes working with the Provincial Commerce Office, the Provincial Energy Office, local police, and administrative entities to inspect gas stations and fuel storage facilities. The goal is to closely observe the fuel sales situation to prevent hoarding, price gouging, or other illicit activities.
This initiative aligns with the policy of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Deputy Director of ISOC, who has assigned the Chief of Staff to manage ISOC operations in support of security missions. A key focus is ensuring energy security, which is vital for the country's economy and the well-being of its citizens.
The ISOC remains committed to closely monitoring the situation and fostering cooperation across all sectors to ensure that energy management is conducted efficiently and transparently, without adversely affecting the populace.
