Army Commands Unite in Chiang Mai to Combat Drug Trafficking at Border

Chiang mai: A concerted effort to combat drug trafficking along the northern border has been initiated with the collaboration of the 2nd and 3rd Army Regions in Chiang Mai.

According to Thai News Agency, at the military airport of Wing 41 in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, Major General Sathit Waiyanon, Commander of the Pha Mueang Task Force, welcomed Lieutenant General Veerayuth Rakasilp, Commander of the 2nd Army Area and Commander of the Northeastern Border Narcotics, Precursor and Chemical Interdiction and Suppression Command 24. He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Worathep Boonyah, Commander of the 3rd Army Area and Commander of the Northern Border Narcotics, Precursor and Chemical Interdiction and Suppression Command 35.

The objective of this initiative is to synchronize the efforts of security agencies in intercepting and suppressing narcotics, precursors, and chemicals in border areas. The delegation, led by the Commander of the 2nd Army Region, is scheduled to visit the area alongside the Northern Border Narcotics, Precursors, and Chemical Interdiction Command 35 in Chiang Mai Province.

The operation encompasses critical zones including the Narcotics Suppression and Interdiction Command, Precursor and Chemical Substance Suppression Unit, Northern Border Region 35, Mae Rim District, Kiu Hung Operational Base, the Border Patrol Control Command, the 3rd Army Area Operational Center in Mae Ai District, and Nor Lae Operational Base, 3rd Cavalry Platoon, 3rd Cavalry Company, Chaiyanuphap Task Force.

This joint operation between the 2nd Army Area, the 3rd Army Area, and the Pha Muang Task Force aims to integrate security forces to enhance the effectiveness of drug interdiction, focusing on the control of precursors and chemicals potentially used in drug manufacturing along the border.
