Trang: An arrest warrant has been issued for "Jai," the suspect involved in the robbery of funds intended for heart surgery. Police reported that the suspect, identified as Mr. Natthapong, allegedly snatched a handbag from Mrs. Sudjit, 57, on January 2, 2026. The incident occurred on the Trang-Palian road in Moo 4, Ban Khuan subdistrict, Mueang Trang district, and was captured by CCTV cameras.
According to Thai News Agency, the stolen items included important documents, a mobile phone, a gold ring weighing 2 salung (approximately 7.5 grams), and over 15,000 baht in cash. These funds were intended for Mrs. Sudjit's husband's medical treatment and heart surgery, with the total damage exceeding 50,000 baht.
Following the incident, Trang City Police Station initiated a search for the suspect, who resides in Moo 3, Khok Lo Subdistrict, Muang Trang District. A search of his residence uncovered a black and brown Honda Scoopy motorcycle and a dark blue short-sleeved collared shirt matching those seen in the CCTV footage. However, the suspect himself was not located at the residence.
On January 4, 2026, police received information that the victim's belongings were hidden in a metal tin box near the suspect's house. Upon investigation, they recovered a mobile phone, 12,000 baht in cash, and a gold ring, all in a tightly sealed plastic bag. These items were confiscated by the authorities.
Authorities have gathered sufficient evidence to request a court warrant for Mr. Natthapong's arrest on charges of "robbery using a vehicle to facilitate the crime, or to transport the stolen property, or to evade arrest." It is believed that the suspect has fled the area.
Mr. Natthapong has a criminal record, including a robbery in 2013 and multiple narcotics possession charges in 2015 and 2017.
