Mukdahan: The Assistant Minister of Social Development and Human Security visited monks injured in a car accident while on a pilgrimage in Mukdahan province. He revealed that two monks remain in the critical care unit and that plans are underway to learn from the incident to prevent recurrence. He also urged people to refrain from disseminating information or photographs of the child perpetrator, emphasizing that it violates rights and is a legal offense.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Chanok Chantathong, Assistant Minister of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), visited and presented gifts to monks who were injured in an accident while on a pilgrimage on the Mukdahan-Don Tal road, Ban Na Wiang Kae, Na Si Nuan Subdistrict, on July 2nd. Initially, seven monks were injured and are still receiving treatment at Mukdahan Hospital; two are in the critical care unit and five are in the recovery ward.
Regarding the deceased monk, arrangements have been made to return his body to his hometown, and compensation has been provided to the bereaved family. As for the 11-year-old perpetrator, who is autistic, he is currently under protection and care in a safe place in accordance with the Child Protection Act and the Act on the Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life for People with Disabilities.
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Resources is also preparing to include this case in a lessons learned process with multidisciplinary professionals to develop measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. They also request cooperation in refraining from disseminating information or photographs of the child perpetrator, as this violates rights and is a violation of the law.
