Bangkok: Attorney Witoon Kengngan has firmly dismissed allegations surrounding a 40,000 baht transfer slip that has been circulating on social media, asserting that it does not belong to Ploy, the wife of Boss Kant Kantathaworn. The slip was purportedly a “fixed Sunday visit” payment, but Attorney Witoon has clarified that these claims are false.
According to Thai News Agency, Attorney Witoon, representing Boss Paul The Icon, stated that the transfer slip was fabricated to divert attention from reports about Chinese inmates allegedly receiving special treatment in prison. Witoon explained that he contacted Yim, the wife of Boss Peter and a close associate of Ploy, who confirmed that the slip was not related to Ploy. Additionally, he emphasized that Boss The Icon’s assets have been confiscated by the Anti-Money Laundering Office, refuting any bribery allegations.
Addressing rumors of CCTV footage showing Boss Kan moving freely, Witoon clarified that this is implausible due to the prison’s strict regulations, which restrict movement after 3:00 PM. He also relayed that Boss Kan’s family has suffered significantly from these rumors and reiterated that no Sunday visits occur.
The lawyer suggested that the transfer slip rumor might have been a strategic distraction following revelations about preferential treatment for Chinese inmates. He noted that prison visitations are scheduled differently based on case types, with drug-related cases allowed visits on specific weekdays.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is expected to look into the matter, while Boss Kan’s legal team intends to pursue legal action against the originators of the rumor and seek verification of the CCTV footage. Attorney Witoon also raised concerns about systemic issues in the justice system, highlighting the challenges faced by inmates when bail is denied, contributing to the “prison business.”
