Aranyaprathet: Authorities raided a criminal hideout near the Aranyaprathet border following a noticeable surge in internet usage.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), in collaboration with Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), conducted a successful raid on July 9, 2026. The operation resulted in the arrest of a group of fraudsters in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. The investigation was initiated after the detection of unusually high and continuous internet usage, which raised suspicions of illegal activity. AIS engineers were also on site to provide essential technical support during the operation.
During the search, authorities found computer equipment that had been modified for illicit purposes. The equipment was seized and its usage suspended as evidence. The investigation is being expedited to prosecute those involved. Preliminary findings suggest connections to multiple network providers, which are currently being further investigated. The NBTC, CIB, and AIS have confirmed their ongoing cooperation to enhance monitoring and inspection of telecommunications network usage, aiming to prevent misuse and effectively fight online crime.
