Chachoengsao: Multiple units are investigating a mysterious object floating in Khlong Hok Wa canal to determine if it is a crocodile. Panic ensued as villagers photographed a mysterious object floating in Khlong Hok Wa canal, an area bordering Chachoengsao and Nakhon Nayok provinces. It is suspected to be a large crocodile, causing residents to be afraid to use the water or approach the canal. Authorities are urgently investigating.
According to Thai News Agency, villagers photographed a dark object floating in the canal, drifting along the current, near Khlong Hok Wa canal behind the Chalerm Phra Kiat Health Center in Don Chim Phli Subdistrict, Bang Nam Priao District, Chachoengsao Province, in an area bordering Phra Achan Subdistrict, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province.
Our news team spoke with Mr. Kittisak Wangman, a religious teacher at Attaqwa Mosque in Pak Khlong 20, who filmed the clip. He explained that about two weeks ago, while riding his motorcycle across the Khlong Hok Wa bridge, he noticed something floating in the water. Curious, he turned back to take a closer look and filmed it with his mobile phone. Based on his experience living along the canal for decades, he is quite certain that what he saw was a crocodile. After the news spread, residents on both sides of the canal in Chachoengsao and Nakhon Nayok provinces became worried. Many were afraid to go near the canal, affecting their daily lives. They urged authorities to investigate the facts quickly and, if it is confirmed to be a crocodile, to capture it and remove it from the area as soon as possible so that residents can return to their normal lives.
Officials wasted no time and launched a joint operation involving the Don Chim Phli Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Chachoengsao Province, the Phra Achan Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Nakhon Nayok Province, the Bang Nam Priao and Ongkharak District Fisheries Offices, as well as village headmen, community leaders, and local officials. Today (May 12th), the operation will begin, mobilizing resources from various agencies. In addition to fisheries boats, support boats will be requested from the subdistrict administrative organizations to survey the waterways. Coordination will also be made with the Freshwater Fisheries Protection and Suppression Unit at Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok Province, which specializes in catching crocodiles and other dangerous aquatic animals, to join the search. The search will begin on the side of the Phra Achan Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Nakhon Nayok Province, focusing on the entire length of the canal, particularly in the evening. T his is because if it's a crocodile, shining lights will make its red eyes more visible than during the day, and crocodiles don't usually hunt during the day. If a crocodile is confirmed to be present, officials will hold a community meeting to gather feedback from local residents on whether to release it back into the wild or remove it, as crocodiles are protected animals under the law.
