Authorities Pursue Two Additional Suspects in MP Kamolsak Shooting Case

Narathiwat: In the shooting case of MP Kamolsak, authorities have apprehended three suspects while urgently seeking two more. Pol. Maj. Gen. Chumphol Saksuriymongkol, head of the investigation division of the Southern Border Provinces Police Force, disclosed that five individuals are believed to be involved in the assassination attempt on Mr. Kamolsak Leewamae, a Member of Parliament for Narathiwat.

According to Thai News Agency, the plot involved meticulous planning, with perpetrators tracking the victim from Hat Yai Airport. The assassination team positioned their vehicle near the MP's residence, awaiting his arrival due to uncertainty about his flight schedule. They then pursued him, opened fire, and subsequently abandoned their vehicle at a repair shop in Tak Bai District to destroy evidence.

Evidence has led to arrest warrants for five individuals linked to the conspiracy. The suspects include a spotter at Hat Yai Airport; Mr. Somporn, who coordinated the shooting team and provided firearms; the getaway car driver, who has confessed; and the two gunmen, Mr. Thanapat and Mr. Viroj, who are still at large. Additionally, the garage owner in Tak Bai District, hired to dismantle the vehicle, has also confessed.

The vehicle used in the crime was a government car, loaned out informally. While investigations into financial transactions and communications have not connected the government official to the assassination attempt, a disciplinary committee will address the improper lending of the vehicle.

The investigation continues to uncover the mastermind and true motive behind the crime, as the primary suspect remains uncooperative in revealing any further parties involved. Authorities are determined to expedite the investigation to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable.
