Authorities Seize Illegal Animal Feed Worth Over 13 Million Baht in Samut Sakhon

Samut Sakhon:Authorities have conducted a significant raid on a warehouse in Samut Sakhon, uncovering illegal dog and cat food valued at over 13 million baht. The operation was led by the Joint Command Center for Agricultural and Food Security (JCC-ACFS) in collaboration with the Department of Livestock Development.

According to Thai News Agency, the raid followed public complaints about the sale of illegal animal feed. The Joint Command Center, under the guidance of Mr. Sarawut Nueangchamnong, Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, initiated an investigation. The investigation was part of a broader policy by Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to curb illegal agricultural and livestock products.

The warehouse, located in Phanthai Norasingh Subdistrict, was found to contain large quantities of unregistered imported animal feed. These products, classified as controlled, require legal permits and registration. The inspection revealed the absence of necessary licenses from the Department of Livestock Development, prompting officials to seize 70 items as evidence.

Legal actions are underway, with complaints filed at Khok Kham Police Station for violations of the Animal Feed Quality Control Act B.E. 2558 (2015). The charges include producing and selling animal feed without a permit and failing to register products, with penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment.

Officials urge businesses to adhere to feed quality control laws to prevent hazardous contamination and protect livestock health. The Department of Livestock Development encourages the public to report violations through the DLD 4.0 application.
