BAAC Supports Thailand’s Hosting of 2026 IMF-World Bank Meetings with Agricultural Products

Bangkok:The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is actively promoting agricultural products from its customers to bolster Thailand's role as the host of the 2026 IMF - World Bank Group Annual Meetings.

According to Thai News Agency, the BAAC is aligning its efforts with the event's theme, "Thailand's New Horizons Empowering People, Building Resilience." This theme focuses on people-centered development and strengthening economic resilience, which resonates with BAAC's mission to enhance the quality of life for farmers, bolster financial resilience, and foster inclusive economic growth.

The annual meetings, which will take place from October 12-18, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, are expected to attract over 15,000 participants, including finance ministers, central bank governors, financial institution leaders, and academics from 191 countries. The forum presents a crucial opportunity for exchanging global economic insights and fostering cooperation for economic growth and financial stability.

Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, Manager of BAAC, expressed the institution's pride and readiness to support Thailand's hosting of the meetings. He emphasized the importance of the event in showcasing Thailand's potential to host world-class conferences and its readiness in various aspects such as infrastructure, tourism, and facilities. This not only highlights Thailand's economic and financial role in Southeast Asia but also promotes its arts, culture, and cuisine, thereby stimulating the domestic economy.

The Ministry of Finance has supported the upgrading of community products from BAAC's farmer clients, which were showcased and made available for purchase by conference attendees. These include patterned fabric bags, ready-to-eat jasmine rice, embroidered mud-dyed fabric bags, cotton shawls, water hyacinth bags, elephant dolls made from traditional Thai cotton fabric, and pandanus leaf business card holders. These products reflect Thailand's unique identity and contribute to building soft power among member countries.
