Bangkok Flood Relief Efforts Mobilized by Consumer Protection Board

Bangkok:The Consumer Protection Board (CPB) has deployed a team led by Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi to assist with flood relief efforts in Bangkok, focusing on providing free vehicle transportation services for those affected by the recent floodwaters in the Keha Rom Klao area.

According to Thai News Agency, Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi coordinated with the Metropolitan Police Command, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), and the Ministry of Transport to deploy 27 tow trucks. These efforts are aimed at quickly relocating vehicles submerged in the floodwaters, thereby reducing the burden on affected residents. On October 7, 2026, a convoy of tow trucks was dispatched to move approximately 34 stranded vehicles to safe storage, preventing further damage and easing traffic.

Ms. Supamas emphasized the importance of providing urgent assistance to those whose vehicles are vital to their livelihoods, ensuring the public can request help through the traffic hotline 1197 at no cost, 24 hours a day. She highlighted that the prompt relocation and repair of vehicles are crucial for allowing people to resume their normal lives and work activities swiftly.

In addition to relocation efforts, the CPB is committed to protecting consumer rights during the flood recovery process. This includes simplifying claims for compensation, ensuring fair pricing for towing and recovery services, and coordinating with the Association of Insurance Repair Shops to offer free repair assessments and discounts. The CPB also plans to assist with expediting insurance claims and working with financial institutions to provide financial relief options.

Minister Supamas reiterated that the government's primary concern is to alleviate the suffering of flood victims, with a commitment to proactive and integrated efforts across sectors to ensure swift and effective assistance. She assured the public that the government will continue to provide support until the situation normalizes, emphasizing that no one will be left behind.
