Bangkok: The Bangkok Flying Group is spearheading efforts to enhance waste management in the city by developing the On Nut waste sorting center, with a focus on waste separation at the source and addressing the issue of foul odors. Tae Mongkolkitt and Nong Phasapong, the gubernatorial candidates from the "Bangkok Can Fly" group, visited the center to promote their policies and engage with students from Surasakmontri School.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phasapong, a candidate for the Bangkok gubernatorial race from the "Bangkok Flying Group," accompanied by Mr. Mongkolkitt Suksintharanon, the group's advisor, inspected the On Nut waste sorting center to review the city's waste management practices. This visit follows a prior inspection of the Sai Mai waste disposal center. The On Nut facility, which includes landfill zones and sections for organic fertilizer and fuel production, is currently under testing and construction. The group plans to conduct a study tour of the Nong Khaem waste disposal center next week.
Mr. Phasapong emphasized that, if elected, he intends to implement an application system to promote household-level waste sorting without additional fees. His goal is to transform every household into a primary waste sorting unit, aiming to significantly reduce Bangkok's waste, which currently exceeds 10,000 tons daily.
Mr. Mongkolkitt highlighted the pressing issue of foul odors at the waste disposal centers in On Nut, Nong Khaem, and Sai Mai, which cause considerable discomfort to residents. He advocated for enhancing the efficiency of the waste disposal system and suggested using compressed non-recyclable waste as fill material to combat coastal erosion in the Bang Khun Thian area. Additionally, he outlined policies on building safety, addressing PM2.5 dust pollution, water quality improvement, expanding the school milk program, and advancing public health through improved medical services in Bangkok.
Following their visit, the group engaged with students at Surasakmontri School, discussing the Bangkok Flying Group's policies and encouraging civic participation in the upcoming gubernatorial election, urging support for candidate number 7.
