Bangkok: Governor Chatchart affirms that the EV garbage truck project is proceeding transparently, urging against accusations of corruption and emphasizing that the goal is to benefit the public.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, addressed the issue of the budget cuts for the electric garbage truck (EV) project. He stated that most people agree on transitioning garbage trucks to EVs. However, due to lingering questions regarding the details, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is ready to have officials provide clarification to the Bangkok Metropolitan Council according to due process. He also affirmed that there was absolutely no corruption in this project; it was conducted transparently and under constant monitoring by officials.

Despite the transparency claims, since the project was not approved, the BMA will have to revert to the original method of leasing gasoline-powered garbage trucks for the time being. Governor Chatchart emphasized his commitment to working collaboratively with the Bangkok City Council for the public good, dismissing any allegations of corruption against him.
