Bangkok Governor Takes Action to Expedite Fuel Delivery Amid Rising Demand

Bangkok: The Bangkok Governor has initiated measures to improve the delivery of fuel in response to increasing delays, despite the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) lacking direct legal authority over transportation logistics.

According to Thai News Agency, the surge in demand at gas stations, prompted by more people refueling their vehicles, has led to significant delivery delays from depots to gas stations. In response, Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt has addressed the issue, emphasizing the importance of facilitating fuel transportation in the city. This action comes after the Ministry of Energy requested a relaxation of restrictions on fuel truck operating hours to ensure a smoother distribution process.

Governor Chatchart has expressed Bangkok's readiness to cooperate wherever possible and has instructed Mr. Narong Ruangsri, the BMA Permanent Secretary, to engage with relevant agencies to foster coordination and mutual understanding. However, he noted that the BMA lacks the authority to enforce regulations regarding the movement of trucks, as this responsibility lies with the police and the Department of Land Transport.
