Bangkok: The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has taken decisive action by establishing a committee to investigate serious disciplinary violations involving three officials implicated in the pink card scam. These civil servants have been suspended with immediate effect as of August 18, 2026, following their involvement in a scheme to fraudulently issue pink identification cards. The BMA is also investigating irregular transfers across all 50 districts.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Adisorn Ngamjitsukhsri, an advisor to the Governor of Bangkok, detailed the "Clean Up the City" operation, which aims to arrest those involved in the fraudulent issuance of non-Thai national identification cards, or pink cards, to children of foreign nationals. Governor Chatchart Sittipunt has ordered urgent action to combat this corruption.
The BMA Permanent Secretary has instructed the Directors of Din Daeng and Lak Si districts to consider issuing orders for the temporary suspension of the three civil servants. Concurrently, a committee has been appointed to investigate serious disciplinary violations by these individuals. This investigation will run alongside criminal proceedings conducted by the Din Daeng Police Station.
Additionally, the Din Daeng District Office is tasked with expediting the verification of past registrations for new addresses and documents related to the issuance of national identity cards, with a focus on individuals whose identification numbers begin with 7. Initial reports indicate that 47 flats in Din Daeng house 16 or more foreign nationals, with a total of 1,468 individuals found in areas such as Soi Pracha Songkhro and Mit Maitri Road. Directors of all 50 districts have been ordered to verify civil registration data in their areas, especially concerning unusually large numbers of people changing addresses.
Pol. Gen. Adisorn advised that property owners or the public who notice suspicious behavior regarding changes in household registration should report it to Traffy Fondue. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration assures that the informant's information will remain confidential.
