Bangkok: The 46th Bangkok International Motor Show has concluded with a significant rise in car bookings, reaching a total of 79,941 units, marking a 44.8% increase.
According to Thai News Agency, the event witnessed a remarkable demand for electric vehicles (EVs), which comprised 65% of the total bookings, contributing to the growth of the Thai automotive industry this year. The show attracted a total of 1.6 million visitors.
Mr. Chaturon Komolmis, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Grand Prix International Public Company Limited and Vice Chairman of the Bangkok International Motor Show, expressed satisfaction with the event’s success, noting the increased participation from car and motorcycle manufacturers as well as automotive business operators. The total number of visitors closely matched last year’s attendance.
During the event, 79,941 vehicles were booked, with 77,379 being cars and 2,562 motorcycles. Notably, xEV vehicles dominated the bookings, particularly SUVs, which have grown in popularity. Internal combustion engine vehicles accounted for 35% of the bookings.
The top five car brands in terms of bookings were BYD with 9,819 cars, TOYOTA with 9,615 cars, GAC with 7,018 cars, DEEPAL with 6,067 cars, and HONDA with 5,948 cars. For motorcycles, YAMAHA led with 1,286 bookings, followed by SUZUKI and ROYAL ENFIELD, each with 224 bookings, HARLEY-DAVIDSON with 215 bookings, TRIUMPH with 170 bookings, and BMW MOTORRAD with 165 bookings. Thai Honda chose not to disclose their booking figures.
Several factors contributed to the 44.8% growth in car bookings, including the introduction of new products that piqued consumer interest, competitive promotional campaigns, enhanced confidence in product quality guarantees from car brands, and supportive government policies like the “Pickup Truck with a Warehouse” initiative.
Mr. Chaturon highlighted that the Bangkok International Motor Show plays a crucial role in stimulating the automotive industry by encouraging manufacturers to adopt nationwide sales promotion campaigns, which have led to increased car bookings across the country. The event also showcased automotive technology and innovations, with companies investing heavily in booth construction and show presentations.
The 47th Bangkok International Motor Show is scheduled to take place from March 25 to April 5, 2026, at Impact Challenger Hall 1-3, Muang Thong Thani.
