Bangkok is saddened by the incident in which a student was injured by an electric shock at a bus stop. The BMA is rushing to provide full assistance. The public is invited to be on the lookout for theft of public property. Report the incident via Traffy Fondue. Mr. Wisanu Traisompol, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Ekwaranyu Amrapal, Spokesperson of Bangkok, and Mr. Sittiporn Somkidsan, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Transportation Department of Bangkok (TAT), along with relevant agencies, went to inspect the scene of an 11-year-old student who was electrocuted and injured at a bus stop on Sukhumvit 71 Road, Watthana District, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on August 15, 2024. Mr. Wisanu said that he would like to express his condolences for the incident that occurred this time. From the inspection of the metal cover of the electrical cabinet that was damaged and cut the student's hand, it was found that the cover was stolen and opened, resulting in a sharp edge. After the Metropolitan Electricity Authorit y inspected, no electrical leakage was found. A plastic fuse was used to cover the sharp metal points. The SSO will inspect all 1,400 bus stop electrical cabinets throughout Bangkok. It will take about 2 weeks to inspect all of them. Preventive measures will be taken everywhere to prevent a repeat incident. The public is asked to be on the lookout. If you find any areas where Bangkok property has been stolen and there is a problem, you can report it to the BMA via Traffy Fondue or the responsible agency directly. The BMA spokesperson added that after inspecting the bus stop sign that injured the student's hand, which the student reported as being electrocuted, causing him to swing his hand and hit the edge of the cabinet door at the bus stop sign until he was injured, it was found that the edge of the cabinet door was hard and quite sharp. Some of the stolen property was found to have left the cabinet door open. Therefore, the BMA has rushed to make initial repairs. As for the electrical leakage, the electri city authority has initially inspected and found no electrical leakage. They have also inspected the grounding wire and the RCD or Safety Cut, which found that both were still working normally. The authorities initially assumed that it may have been caused by static electricity. However, the BMA confirmed that it is ready to take care of the injured student and provide all medical treatment. For medical treatment of the injured student, they can immediately receive services at a hospital under the BMA. The BMA will provide care and treatment to the best of its ability. After visiting the area, the deputy governor visited the student and met with the student's father, and confirmed that he will be responsible for all medical expenses. Source: Thai News Agency
