Later, at 8:00 AM, Governor Chatchart presided over the ceremony of pouring water to bless the elderly, aiming to encourage Thai people to show gratitude and respect to their parents and elders, as well as to foster love and understanding among them.

Songkran Day falls on April 13th every year. The word "Songkran" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "movement," referring to the movement of the sun into the Aries zodiac sign, which is considered the solar New Year. The festival period takes place between April 13th and 15th (April 13th is Maha Songkran Day).

In the past, Songkran was considered the Thai New Year, coinciding with the post-harvest period. Ancient people used it as a time for rest and family activities. Today, it is an important festival where water symbolizes freshness and new beginnings. Activities include bathing Buddha images, pouring water to bless elders, and returning home to family, reflecting gratitude, warmth, and the continuation of Thai culture during the Thai New Year.
