Bangkok: The Faculty of Medicine at Bangkok Thonburi University has initiated a course designed to equip first-year medical students with essential 21st-century competencies. This new educational offering aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of Thai citizenship, global citizenship, and the country's constitutional framework. The course involves 20 first-year medical students who are engaging with topics related to the Constitution, political roles, and the influence of independent organizations on national development.
According to Thai News Agency, the course features lectures by esteemed professionals, including Mr. Theppratanporn Thongklang, a Public Prosecutor for Rights Protection, Legal Assistance, and Enforcement in Rayong Province. Mr. Thongklang shared his expertise on the importance of understanding constitutional rights and responsibilities, the role of citizens in elections, and the influence of professional organizations on maintaining societal order. He also incorporated insights from King Rama IX's philosophy of sufficiency economy, promoting a life oriented towards sufficiency and contentment.
During the lecture, Mr. Theppratanporn emphasized the need for citizens to actively participate in electing members of parliament who contribute to legislative duties and government scrutiny. He also highlighted the importance of self-development and acquiring new skills for continuous contribution to society and national progress. The interactive session allowed professors and students to engage with Mr. Theppratanporn, who shared reflections on his career and the significance of lifelong learning.
