Bangkok: Bangkok remains shrouded in PM2.5 dust exceeding standards, affecting health in 14 districts. The Bangkok Air Quality Information Center reported PM2.5 measurements on January 19, 2026, from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM. The levels ranged from 22.0 to 49.0 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³), with a Bangkok average of 32.2 µg/m³. The levels are trending upwards and exceed the orange standard (beginning to affect health) in 14 districts: Chatuchak, Pathum Wan, Lat Krabang, Bang Rak, Lak Si, Ratchathewi, Khlong Sam Wa, Sathorn, Phra Nakhon, Bang Sue, Prawet, Sai Mai, Wang Thonglang, and Nong Chok. The highest level was recorded in Chatuchak district, near Kasetsart University, at 48.9 µg/m³.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) advises the public to wear masks to protect against PM2.5 and avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially for vulnerable groups. The BMA also noted that from January 19-21, ventilation will be weak, leading to dust accumulation. However, there is a chance of rain from January 22-24, which may improve the air quality. Currently, no hotspots have been detected by satellite in Bangkok. The public is urged to closely monitor information via the AirBKK app and official BMA channels.
