Barbershop Owner and Wives Charged with Murder in Pak Kret Incident

Pak kret: Police have charged the owner of a barbershop, 59-year-old Jirawat, and his two wives with murder after they allegedly lured a 26-year-old man, Thiti, to the shop and bludgeoned him to death. The incident has sparked outrage among the victim's friends, who have surrounded the crime scene demanding justice.

According to Thai News Agency, tensions escalated when police from Pak Kret Police Station, along with rescue workers, attempted to restrain a group of Thiti's friends who stormed into the barbershop intending to assault Jirawat. The deceased was reportedly lured under the pretense of retrieving his iPhone 15, which a Laotian friend, also Jirawat's girlfriend, allegedly asked him to collect. The group of friends had previously visited the shop during Songkran but were turned away by Jirawat.

Since yesterday evening, there have been calls for justice, with bottles thrown at rescue workers and clashes occurring near the crime scene. Pol. Col. Adirek Thongkamkaew, Superintendent of Pak Kret Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Kongpisit Phruksacheewa, Deputy Superintendent for Crime Prevention and Suppression, arrived to defuse the situation. They explained the legal process to the deceased's friends, assuring them of a fair investigation, and managed to escort Jirawat to the police station for further legal proceedings.

Later that night, five volunteer rescue workers reported injuries after responding to a disturbance while police escorted Jirawat to the station. The rescue workers were hit by thrown beer bottles and caught in the crossfire, resulting in damage to their vehicle.

After the report was filed, friends of the deceased arrived at the station to apologize for the altercation. However, tensions flared again as more people arrived, leading to a minor argument. Pol. Col. Adirek Thongkamkaew mediated the situation, and both parties eventually apologized and agreed to discuss the damages at a later meeting.

Regarding the prosecution, police have charged Jirawat, along with his first wife Ms. Natthayan, 43, and second wife Miss Phonephimonh, 34, with jointly committing murder. They have opposed bail for all three. Jirawat claims self-defense, stating that the deceased asked to borrow 20,000 baht and attacked him when refused. He asserts the assault was not intended to kill, describing the use of a pestle and an iron bar as self-defense measures. He also mentioned having 28 girlfriends, only living with one, and confirmed that both wives were present during the incident.
