According to Thai News Agency, the Thai mixed doubles pair, ranked 4th in the world and seeded 4th in the tournament, faced Yuichi Shimogami and Sayaka Hobara, who are ranked 16th in the world and seeded 13th. The match marked their fifth encounter, with Bas and Fame having won three of the previous four meetings. Their latest clash at the "Indonesia Open" in June was a tightly contested affair, with the Thai duo narrowly edging out the Japanese pair in three games. The match began with both sides exchanging leads in the first game, but the Japanese team managed to secure an 11-8 advantage at halftime and went on to win the game 21-17. However, Bas and Fame came back strongly in the second game, taking an early lead and maintaining their momentum to win 21-12. In the dec iding game, the Thai pair continued their strong form, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory with scores of 17-21, 21-12, and 21-17 in a match lasting 57 minutes. With this victory, Bas-Fame will now face the winner of the match between Tom Giekel-Delphine Delroux from France, ranked 5th globally, and Presley Smith-Jenny Gai from the United States, ranked 17th, in the quarterfinals.
