Beabadoobee Releases New Song ‘Switchblade’ From Upcoming Album ‘Pylon’

Bangkok: Today, beabadoobee released her second single, "Switchblade," from her highly anticipated new album, Pylon. This album is more diverse and complex than anything she's created before; it's a heavy and bitter rock album that conveys a wide range of emotions throughout, from anger and loneliness to elation, melancholy, and an unusually deep love.

According to Thai News Agency, the song Switchblade meticulously analyzes its central metaphor, posing the question: Is self-defense courage? Should you start a fight, or choose to flee? The song offers no definitive answer, as Laus has long passed the stage of believing she could find all the answers. Pylon, though emotionally turbulent, celebrates the unknown. Its brilliance lies in demonstrating that embracing uncertainty can create something profound, both emotionally and vocally. The multitude of conflicting feelings are central to the song. As Laus states, Pylon is about acknowledging the return of negative emotions, accepting insecurity and confusion-all essential components of personal growth and self-discovery. You go through those bad times, and that's why I needed to write about them.

Pylon, a follow-up to the UK number one album This Is How Tomorrow Moves, is available for pre-order and saving now, ahead of its official release on September 18, 2026, via Dirty Hit and Interscope Records. 'Switchblade' follows the album's critically acclaimed first-person single 'Sun Has Set' released last month, and features a distinctive first-person narrative music video directed by Jake Erland, Bea's longtime visual partner and collaborator.

beabadoobee is set to debut all the songs from her new album on her first and biggest arena tour to date, the Powerlines Tour, touring North America, the UK, and Europe this fall and winter. The Live Nation-sponsored Powerlines Tour kicks off on October 1st and will feature major venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Kia Forum, The O2 Arena, and more.
