Beware of Airline Scammers Stealing Credit Cards from Overhead Pockets

Bangkok: A new type of scam is lurking, threatening airline passengers. Criminals are stealing credit cards from overhead luggage and then using them to make payments via mobile phones. Nearly 100 people have already been victimized.

According to Thai News Agency, the scammers operate during flights, targeting unsuspecting passengers who have stored their belongings in the overhead compartments. Once they have access to the luggage, they swiftly extract credit cards and use them to conduct unauthorized transactions before the theft is discovered.

Authorities are urging passengers to remain vigilant and keep their valuables close at hand, rather than storing them in overhead compartments. Airlines are also being advised to increase awareness among passengers and enhance security measures to prevent further incidents of this nature.
