Bhumjaithai Party Membership Hinges on Brotherhood, Says Deputy Prime Minister

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Suchart Chomklin, emphasized that the sole condition for joining the Bhumjaithai Party is a sense of brotherhood. In a recent statement, he addressed the political affiliations of a 16-member group, underlining the importance of maintaining good manners due to existing party ties. Chomklin humorously remarked on the clarity of affiliations, suggesting that the presence of many people makes the situation obvious.

According to Thai News Agency, Suchart discussed the future political prospects of the group, highlighting their current party affiliations out of courtesy. He expressed confidence in the group’s alignment, indicating his personal clarity on the matter. He also touched upon the geographical representation, mentioning that members from the Eastern, Western, and Southern regions would be included in his group.

Suchart elaborated on the complexities of politics in the Eastern region, acknowledging its diverse demographic with a significant foreign presence. He noted the political strength of the Western and Southern regions, expressing optimism about overcoming electoral challenges. Reflecting on his political journey since 2011, he emphasized that changes in party affiliation were not attempts to evade responsibilities but were sometimes necessitated by shifts within the parties themselves.

Regarding his personal motivations for joining the Bhumjaithai Party, Suchart cited his close relationship with Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Their proximity in residence fostered a sense of brotherhood, making it difficult for Suchart to support others politically. He stressed that his decisions in parliamentary sessions stemmed from personal prerogatives rather than party mandates.
