Bhumjaithai Party MPs Deny Allegations of Rigged Specifications in Solar Power Project

Bangkok:Bhumjaithai Party MPs have come forward to refute claims regarding manipulated specifications within the community solar power project, asserting its integrity and potential public benefits. They emphasized that such an initiative had not been attempted by previous governments.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kongkrit Ramsak, MP for Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Mr. Rittirong Phumsawat, MP for Maha Sarakham, both from the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed these allegations in a press conference. They argued that recent news reports misrepresented the project's objectives and specifications, promoting the false narrative of rigged installer specifications.

Kongkrit clarified that the project aims to encourage citizens to install solar panels with a government subsidy of 50,000 baht and the opportunity to sell electricity back to the government. He highlighted the participation of over 1,000 registered vendors with the Provincial Electricity Authority, ensuring no bias towards specific installers.

The MPs explained that the government's requirement for a security deposit and additional insurance payments ensures companies' preparedness and protects public interest. They reassured that the measures are to guarantee the completion of installations without financial mishaps and to provide citizens with quality service.

Mr. Rittirong also addressed concerns about potential favoritism towards large corporations, stating that the vendor list encompasses companies of various sizes, each assessed on their capacity to execute installations. He expressed optimism about meeting the ambitious target of installing solar systems in one million households, with a completion goal set for September 2027.
