Bhumjaithai Party Prepares to Announce Prime Minister Candidate with “Word-and-Action” Approach

Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party is set to unveil its prime minister candidate soon, emphasizing a “word-and-action” approach that builds on the achievements of the Anutin government. The party spokesperson highlighted the adaptability of their campaign strategy, particularly with the use of online introductions due to limitations on campaigning along the Thai-Cambodian border. The spokesperson also noted the presence of many influential political factions, which reflects the party’s readiness and eagerness to work, especially as the final day of registration saw intensive training for Bangkok MPs.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, the party spokesperson, discussed the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections. She confirmed that the party is adhering to the timeline set by the Election Commission (EC) and has been in discussions with candidates regarding standard election procedures and necessary precautions. The spokesperson elaborated on the new slogan “Say It and Do It Plus,” explaining that it marks an expansion of policy scope to cover all dimensions of the country, aligning with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s recent policies.

The spokesperson addressed the influx of new members, including individuals from influential families, joining the Bhumjaithai Party. She clarified that while some may perceive these new members as influential figures, the party actually comprises a diverse mix of groups and professions. The party’s commitment to engaging with the public across various regions was reaffirmed, alongside a promise to do its best in every constituency.

The announcement of the party’s prime ministerial candidates is anticipated shortly, with the selection process focusing on work experience and capability in various fields. While speculation surrounds potential candidates such as Ms. Supajee Suthamphan and Mr. Ekniti Nitithatpraphas, the spokesperson emphasized that the selection process is comprehensive and involves multiple dimensions.

Addressing the impact of regional unrest on campaigning, particularly in the eastern border provinces, the spokesperson acknowledged the challenges but stressed the importance of online media as a campaign tool. This marks the first time unrest has affected multiple provinces during an election period, not only in southern Isaan but also in the eastern region.

The Bhumjaithai Party headquarters was active on the final day of parliamentary candidate registration, with Bangkok candidates undergoing intensive training. The party plans to field candidates in all 33 constituencies in Bangkok, led by key figures such as Mr. Ekanat Promphan and Ms. Suphamas Isarabhakdi. Candidates from other constituencies and those on the party list also participated in photo sessions at the headquarters.
