Bhumjaithai Party Refutes Mediation Claims by Former MP, Vows Legal Action

Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party has strongly countered claims made by Ms. Kusumalawati Sirikomut, a former MP of Mahasarakham Province from the Pheu Thai Party, asserting that they never sought mediation and are committed to pursuing legal action to its fullest extent. The party maintains that it will strictly adhere to legal channels to address any misinformation.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Supachai Jaismut, Chairman of the Legal Working Group of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed the allegations following a press conference held by Ms. Kusumalawati at the Criminal Court. She had reportedly alluded to several issues involving the Bhumjaithai Party. Mr. Supachai confirmed that the party had previously sued Ms. Kusumalawati and recently attended a court session to review the lawsuit’s foundation. Despite the court’s inquiry about potential mediation, the party firmly stated its intention to pursue the case due to the defamation and slander that harmed its reputation, seeking criminal penalties including imprisonment.

Mr. Supachai criticized Ms. Kusumalawati’s portrayal of herself as an expert, calling her statements fabricated and based on misinterpretations. He dismissed her claims of collusion with senators as untrue and reiterated that no actions taken by the Bhumjaithai Party supported such allegations.

Further, Mr. Supachai addressed Ms. Kusumalawati’s comments regarding Khao Kradong, highlighting that the construction of the royal railway from Nakhon Ratchasima to Ubon Ratchathani began in 1908, and legal proceedings concerning land title deeds were already underway. He warned against misinformation, emphasizing adherence to the law rather than resorting to baseless claims.

Mr. Supachai also clarified the context of a photograph showing Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, with a senator. He explained that the photo was taken in a public area of the parliament and assured that Mr. Anutin often obliges photo requests, underscoring that such interactions should not be misconstrued as evidence of conspiracy.

Additionally, Mr. Supachai cautioned Ms. Kusumalawati against reckless statements and actions, urging her to fulfill her civic duties without engaging in slander or defamation. He reiterated that legal recourse is available without resorting to false accusations.
