Bhumjaithai Party’s By-Election Victory Sparks Questions Over Voter Support Shift

Bangkok: “Teng” declined to answer whether the people’s votes flowed to support the “Bhumjaithai” party after winning the by-election for the Sisaket MP, responding to Pheu Thai’s self-evaluation. Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, a party-list MP and leader of the Prachachon Party, addressed the results of the by-election for Sisaket Constituency 5. He questioned whether the Bhumjaithai Party’s votes were derived from the Move Forward Party’s existing support base. He stated that he could not assess on behalf of voters who voted, as such assessments would be judgemental. He added that this was a contest between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties, and therefore, the Pheu Thai Party should be the one to assess. Given this outcome, he himself must address the issue and find ways to prepare for it.

According to Thai News Agency, the by-election results have stirred political discussions, particularly concerning the possibility of a shift in voter support from the Move Forward Party to the Bhumjaithai Party. The reluctance to speculate on voter intentions highlights the complexities of interpreting electoral outcomes in a dynamic political landscape. The focus remains on how the involved parties, especially the Pheu Thai Party, will analyze the results and strategize for future elections.
