Pathum thani: Big Jazz, a key figure in Pathum Thani's local administration, has put forward a proposal to amend existing laws to reduce taxes at gas stations. This initiative aims to use the revenue to support gas stations and pilot a 5 satang reduction in fuel prices, potentially aiding various stakeholders in the region.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Thupkrachang, President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, recently convened a meeting with representatives from 317 gas station operators within the province. The primary focus of this meeting was to deliberate on strategies for reducing fuel dispensing taxes over a six-month period. The Provincial Administrative Organization currently earns 4 million baht monthly from these taxes, and reallocating this revenue to subsidize gas stations could lead to lower fuel prices. This initiative is deemed a priority policy intended to assist farmers, entrepreneurs, and traders across Pathum Thani province.
In terms of execution, local authorities possess the authority to reduce fuel taxes at gas stations. A proposal to amend the law will be submitted to the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) council on April 8th for approval, with plans for immediate execution. If approved, the price of fuel in Pathum Thani province is expected to decrease by 5 satang per liter on April 9th. Additionally, as the secretary of the Association of Provincial Administrative Organizations of Thailand, Pol. Lt. Gen. Thupkrachang intends to recommend to the association president that a meeting be held with the presidents of all 76 provinces. Should any province be prepared, they can announce the reduction without delay.
