Bangkok: “Big Lek” is set to submit a list of military personnel to “Bhumtham” today for royal approval, amidst ongoing political uncertainty in Thailand. Despite the country’s fragile political landscape and the looming dissolution of Parliament, he remains unconcerned about the border situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Minister of Defense General Nattapol Nakphanit, before attending the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Administration Center (CBSA) meeting, revealed that the CBSA’s roadmap would be reviewed for submission to the National Security Council (NSC) and the Cabinet. The review will include an assessment of the Ban Nong Chan area in Sa Kaeo Province to address labor shortages and determine appropriate practices. Additionally, reports from evacuation centers in Tak and Mae Hong Son provinces will be considered to allow supervised work. Discussions on labor management are also planned.
General Nattapol, addressing concerns regarding the potential parliamentary dissolution and its impact on the Thai-Cambodian border area, assured that there are no issues. He cited regulations from the Ministry of Defense Organization Act of 2008, which outlines the delegation of authority to military leaders at various levels, ensuring preparedness should any incident occur. He emphasized that there are established rules on the use of force.
In response to inquiries about whether Cambodia might exploit Thailand’s political vulnerability to create incidents, General Nattapol, drawing on conversations with commanders of the Suranaree Forces and the Second Army Area, expressed confidence that no problems would arise. He highlighted ongoing negotiations and preparations, reaffirming the border forces’ readiness.
General Nattapol also mentioned plans to submit the military personnel list to Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, who is acting as Prime Minister, for royal endorsement today.
