Bangkok: "Big Tao" spearheaded a raid on the residence of "Deputy District Chief Rungruang" to uncover further evidence in an ongoing exam fraud case. Following a bail application filed by Mr. Rungruang Thimabutr, the Phuket Provincial Permanent Secretary and a suspect in the case, authorities executed a search warrant at his home.
According to Thai News Agency, the operation was led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Panngaeo, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, alongside officers from the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Suppression Division. The search took place at Mr. Rungruang's residence located in a luxury housing estate in Koh Taew Subdistrict, Mueang District, Songkhla Province. Their goal was to gather additional evidence related to the case.
During the operation, the reporter noted a sign with the deputy's name in English on the front door, accompanied by the message "The Lion, Loyal to the Land." The deputy permanent secretary and his family were fully cooperative, allowing authorities to inspect the entire house for any documents or information pertinent to the investigation. The search lasted over two hours before officers left the premises.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat has yet to disclose specific details regarding the items or evidence discovered during the search, stating that all information will be thoroughly examined and added to the case file as the investigation progresses.
Officials suspect that the house could have been a meeting place for discussions related to the investigation, based on previous information provided by the complainant. As such, a comprehensive inspection of the property was deemed necessary to uncover any potential connections and evidence.
The searched village is a large housing development comprising approximately 15-20 houses. Mr. Rungruang's family residence is situated at a corner of the project, with the family purchasing and connecting two adjacent houses to form a larger home.
This raid is part of a broader investigation into the exam fraud case, with officials from the Anti-Corruption Division actively seeking additional evidence to identify those involved and pursue legal action.
