Bangkok: The Bus Terminal Company (BKS) has integrated into the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project to promote public bus travel, emphasizing convenience, affordability, and safety while invigorating the domestic economy. Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of Transport Company Limited (BKS), announced this initiative, which aligns with the government's efforts to subsidize transportation costs and ease the financial burden on citizens.
According to Thai News Agency, the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project allows the government to subsidize 60% of the transport costs, leaving the public to cover the remaining 40%. This initiative supports the Ministry of Transport's policy to make public transportation more accessible and stimulate economic activity. Eligible citizens can use the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" scheme for purchasing BKS bus tickets through the "Paotang" application, available from June 1st to September 30th, 2026, during specified hours at all BKS ticket counters nationwide.
Participants in the scheme are permitted to buy bus tickets within a daily allowance of 200 baht. Should the fare exceed this amount, the difference must be settled in cash or via the remaining allowance in the Paotang app. The program covers all bus standards and routes, and ticket purchases can benefit from BKS Member fare discounts of 5-10%, contingent upon the company's terms. However, once purchased, tickets are non-refundable, and if the buyer is not traveling, they must provide the passenger's name and national identification number prior to ticket issuance.
