Bomb Threats Target Multiple European Flights and Airports

Rome:London A second wave of bomb threats has struck flights across Europe this week, impacting over 30 aircraft and several airports. The UK authorities have classified these incidents as malicious hoaxes.

According to Thai News Agency, the flights were en route to various European destinations, including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland, and Romania. Many aircraft were forced to divert unexpectedly. Furthermore, London Heathrow and Birmingham airports in the United Kingdom were also mentioned in the threats. Searches of all targeted flights have not uncovered any explosives or suspicious items.

Airport officials in Rome, Italy, reported receiving the threat via email from a group calling themselves "Fighters of Male State," who claim to oppose feminism and threaten to "turn the sky red with bombs." Italian media suggest a potential link to a far-right Russian group banned by a Russian court five years ago. Despite the email's existence, it may not provide sufficient evidence to identify those responsible. In the UK, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander assured that the government is seriously addressing the threat, complying with security protocols, even if it seems to be a hoax.

Aviation safety experts have noted that while false threats are common in the aviation industry, this series of incidents suggests a deliberate attempt to cause disruption, possibly due to copycat actions. They warned that an excess of false threats might lead to complacency among authorities, risking the oversight of genuine threats.

Earlier on Tuesday, similar bomb threats were directed at seven commercial aircraft and one cruise ship. The UK government, in collaboration with European security agencies, is actively investigating these threats, stressing that each will be treated as credible.
