Sisaket: Border soldiers in Sisaket province flocked to cast their votes in advance outside their registered district. Meanwhile, the District Chief of Kantaralak urged citizens to exercise their right to vote as much as possible in order to help select suitable individuals to govern the country.
According to Thai News Agency, the Kantaralak District Hall in Sisaket Province is being used as a central polling station for both constituency and out-of-constituency elections. Throughout the morning, military personnel serving as border security officers have been continuously arriving to cast their advance votes for both constituency and party-list representatives. The atmosphere has been orderly.
Chief Petty Officer Somkuan Singkham, District Chief of Kantharalak and chairman of the election committee, revealed that 6,691 people registered to vote in the advance voting outside their registered district. He anticipates a high voter turnout based on the registration numbers, with the majority of voters being people residing in other areas, as well as military personnel stationed in border areas.
To ensure a quick and timely voting process, polling stations have been organized into 13 sets, separated by province. Provinces with a large number of registered voters will be grouped into one set, while provinces with fewer registered voters will be combined into a single set.
For the general election on February 8, 2026, the Kantaralak District is fully prepared. In the event of an emergency at the border, procedures and laws will be followed, which may include suspending voting and issuing an official announcement. However, the district is currently coordinating and closely monitoring the situation with security officials. The border situation remains calm, and it is expected that the election will proceed as normal on February 8th.
The District Chief of Kantharalak also encouraged citizens to exercise their right to vote as much as possible, whether it be in the constituency-based elections, the party-list elections, or the referendum, in order to jointly select suitable individuals to govern the country.
The fact that military personnel along the border, whose mission is to maintain national security, continue to prioritize and exercise their right to vote reflects their commitment to democratic rights and serves as a good example for the public in recognizing their civic duties.
