Buakaw’s Sister Faces Distress After Assault; Legal Action Sought for Lack of Compensation

Surin:The sister of famous boxer Buakaw Banchamek was assaulted with a glass in a restaurant in Rattanaburi District, leaving her disfigured and emotionally distressed after the incident. The altercation occurred following her refusal to clink glasses with a man, leading to a violent response.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place on September 13, 2026, when Ms. Apasorn, also known as "Nong O," was approached by Mr. Wirithipol, or "Tangmo," at a restaurant. After declining his request to clink glasses a second time, he reportedly struck her with a glass. The attack caused severe facial injuries, resulting in significant emotional and psychological impact on the victim.

CCTV footage captured the altercation, and Nong O shared that she was originally drinking at the bar when the perpetrator became aggressive after her refusal. Following the attack, she suffered from depression and was forced to wear a mask to cover her scars. Despite an initial offer from the perpetrator's relatives to cover medical expenses, no compensation has been received, leaving her with over 160,000 baht in medical costs and potential future surgeries.

Legal proceedings are ongoing, with charges of assault causing serious injury and indecent acts filed against the perpetrator. However, progress has been slow, and compensation remains unpaid. In response, Buakaw Banchamek took to social media, demanding justice for his sister and expressing readiness to pursue legal action if necessary.

In an interview, Buakaw emphasized the severity of his sister's injuries, highlighting the deep wounds and limited facial control she now experiences. Despite potential connections between the perpetrator and influential figures, Buakaw insists on pursuing justice and accountability within the legal system, considering charges as serious as attempted murder if warranted.
