Bangkok: Buriram has collaborated with the Subdistrict Health Promotion Center to dispatch 1.4 million relief bags to assist flood victims in the South. At the Flood Relief Coordination Center, Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram and Deputy Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen received the relief bags, valued at 1.4 million baht, from the residents of Buriram. These essential supplies will be distributed to those affected by the floods. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to aiding the victims by restoring homes and offering emotional support, while also encouraging public donations. Despite the receding waters, the Deputy Minister of Defense noted the continued high demand for cleaning supplies and other essentials.

According to Thai News Agency, the relief effort was coordinated through the Flood Relief Coordination Center at the Royal Thai Air Force Museum in Don Mueang, Bangkok. The initiative, launched on November 30, 2025, witnessed generous contributions from Buriram Province residents to support the flood-stricken southern region. Mr. Sopon emphasized the nationwide empathy towards the southern flood victims, prompting the government to establish the center as a donation channel. Residents from six districts in Buriram Province contributed items such as canned fish, tissue paper, snacks, sanitary pads, diapers, and milk, reaching a total value of 1.4 million baht in just two days.

Mr. Sopon further expressed the government’s dedication to the welfare of the people, urging those willing to offer assistance to utilize the center as a means of support. While initial relief efforts have been made, returning to normalcy will require time. The center also remains open for further public donations to facilitate ongoing support.

The Deputy Prime Minister addressed concerns about political implications, stating that public awareness was high regarding such matters. He noted that any attempts to create disunity through misinformation would be countered by the government’s actions over time. The focus remains on healing the community and restoring livelihoods, with a commitment to a transparent approach in handling criticisms and demands.

Mr. Sopon discouraged the public from viewing the government’s call for donations as a sign of inadequacy. Instead, he highlighted the national unity displayed by citizens’ willingness to contribute, showcasing a positive image of Thailand’s integrated efforts. The collaborative relief initiative reflects the country’s strength, stability, and economic resilience.

Lt. Gen. Adul confirmed the significant recession of floodwaters but stressed the ongoing need for consumer goods, rehabilitation, and cleaning supplies to support affected households. The government’s budgetary provisions are in place; however, public morale and mutual support are vital during such crises.
