Buriram United Parts Ways with Head Coach Osmar Loss Vieira Amid Unbeaten League Run

Bangkok: Buriram United announced the departure of Brazilian head coach Osmar Los Vieira, despite the team remaining undefeated in the Thai League. Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Committee punished the president of Phalang Kan FC with a three-match ban and a 45,000 baht fine.

According to Thai News Agency, Buriram United, known as “The Thunder Castle,” revealed their separation from Vieira after a 2-2 home draw against BG Pathum United in the Thai League BYD Sea Lions Six League One. Despite the draw, Buriram United has maintained an impressive record, winning six matches, drawing one, and accumulating 19 points, which keeps them at the top of the league standings.

In their AFC Champions League Elite campaign, Buriram United faced a setback with a 0-3 loss to FC Seoul in South Korea, resulting in 3 points from 2 matches. Additionally, in the ASEAN Club Championship, Shopee Cup, the first two matches ended in draws. In light of Vieira’s departure, Buriram United issued a statement expressing gratitude for his leadership and the achievements during his tenure. The club has appointed Emerson Pereira da Silva as the acting head coach temporarily.

The Football Association of Thailand’s Disciplinary and Etiquette Committee, led by Watcharin Panurat, reviewed complaints regarding the conduct of officials during the BYD Sea Lions Six League match between Port FC and Phalang Kan FC on October 4th. A video clip circulated online captured Dr. Prawit Kitthamkunkulnich, president of Phalang Kan FC, using a megaphone to address supporters post-match. His behavior, which included body language suggesting the use of vulgar language, was deemed inappropriate for a public setting.

Following a disciplinary hearing, Dr. Prawit was penalized under Regulation 2.6 for insulting the referee with vulgar and mocking language towards the match officials. Consequently, he received a suspension from his duties for three matches and was fined 45,000 baht.
